Shot just 90 minutes ago in Italy

I think this could be the most recent picture set ever posted on the board.
The pictures were taken just 90 minutes ago in a mall in northern Italy.
The girl (a store clerk) is still around just now in the store and perhaps still leaning down to fix items aligned on the shelfs.

The files are just as the come out from the camera, and you can read the time of the shots in the Exif info.

Technique explained.

I set my Canon A80 in manual mode with:
focus fixed at 75 centimeters (about 29 inches)
ISO 100
exposure 1/50 sec.
iris wide open (f-number 2.8)
flash forced on at the lowest power level

Then I store these settings in C1 program.
Then I set focus at 45 cm (~ 18 inch) and store in C2 program.

When I need a shot from the ground (i.e. pretending to collect something dropped by mistake) then I select C1 on the program wheel.
When I need a shot from the hip (i.e. being in line with the target) then I select C2.
When I think flash would be too dangerous, I simply don't shoot.

Flash is not a problem when there are people shooting with flash (i.e. tourists in a crowded area) since the target thinks the light is coming from someone shooting some other thing.

I would like to use a higher f-number (less open iris, less light going through the lens) to have a larger depth of field (items are in acceptable focus over a wider distance range), but this calls for longer exposure times (most likely motion blurred pictures) or higher ISO settings (guaranteed noisier pictures).

how did you take these pics, they are great and clear, with a lot of direct light coming through the glass to the lady's ass... did you use flash? She has a great ass, too.. Thanks for sharing

Of course I used flash, but at the lowest power (Canon A80 manual mode sports 3 flash power levels). This power is just enough to light subjects at about 1 meter away.
The flash is noticeable only if you look at the camera. The skirt captures most of the light so it is likely that the remaining light which is going beyond the skirt goes unnoticed especially when in a room with a white lighting system.

Other parameters (ISO setting, F number, etc.) can be read out as Exif info from the jpeg file.

That's right, I wish my sony had an manual aperture value setting, instead I set the EV setting at -1,5 or so, and increase ISO to 200 if necessary, that gives a darker image but at least steady shot, with shorter shutter time, then I process the image in my computer to make the colors and brightness better, this especially works very good if you are shooting indoors and without flash.

ehm... if you use manual, just set the apature to something smaller like 5.6-8, and keep the shutter at 1/50, then the flash just adjusts so there will be enough "light"

But the whole point of my technique is that I don't trust the camera auto adjusting.
The camera is too slow and unreliable for me.
My Canon A80 needs at least one second to make its decisions and too often it fails with near subjects. This interval adds to the time I need to aim the camera and then turn it away, giving perhaps a grand total of almost 3 seconds during which someone can spot my action.

Therefore I set all parameters in advance (focus, exp., shutter speed, flash power level), and when I have to shot I put my finger on the button before aiming to give the camera enough time to prepare for the shutter release (it seems strange, but the camera takes about a second to be ready even in full manual mode); then I aim and shot.

Yes, I realize that I could compensate the lower aperture increasing the flash power, but once again this makes it difficult to remain unnoticed.
